Who is Alicia Gilbert Marshall?

Director of SEO at TrendyMinds.
I started a website and became a self-taught SEO. I loved it. So in 2021, I took the plunge and pursued SEO full-time.
I was a middle school English teacher for 14 years, including four years teaching in Abu Dhabi, before making the switch to SEO.

Alicia Gilbert Marshall is the Director of SEO at TrendyMinds. In this role, I lead the SEO strategy for clients across a variety of industries. In addition to client work, I help train and mentor junior SEO team members and play a key role in refining and developing the agency’s overall SEO service offerings.

I love doing site audits and creating content strategies for clients. I’m definitely new here. In 2016, I started a website and became a self-taught SEO. I loved it. So in 2021, I took the plunge and pursued SEO full-time. I started with a large affiliate site and then moved into an agency role. Since then, I’ve worked my way up from Specialist to Director!

Outside of work, you’ll find me cooking, hanging out with my husband and daughter, and working on that same website I started in 2016.

Advice For Anyone Joining The industry?

Learn as much as you can and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, ask questions, and share your knowledge. Absorb it all – podcasts, newsletters, webinars. Things change so fast in our industry. It’s important to stay on top of it all.

Relatedly, I highly encourage anyone joining the SEO industry to create their own website. A lot of SEO involves learning by doing. Having your own site enables you to test and experiment with new ideas.

Lastly, find a good community. I joined Women in Tech SEO and have learned so much. I would not be where I am today without this group of brilliant women.
